Industrial output fell, year-on-year, for the first time in 17 months in March. The fall, 4.7%, was much bigger than independent economists had forecast. The government tried to play down the disappointment by arguing that the figures were distorted by Holy Week, traditionally a holiday, which fell in March this year while it was in April in 2004.
